’12 Volvo S60 – New Spark Plugs

I really think this car wins the easiest plugs to change ever.  Well, my ’66 Volvo may be a little easier, but this was a complete piece of cake.  Just remove the upper turbo tube, them the plastic shield over the motor.  Remove the one bolt holding on each coil pack and that is it.  Make sure you blow some compressed air in each hole before you remove the plug, you never know what is down there; although these were very clean.  I waited way too long to change these, as in 107,000 miles too long.  Replaced the factory Volvo plugs with Bosch double Iridium.  I cannot tell the plugs made any difference, even looking like crap I guess the old plugs were still firing pretty good.  Oh yeah, if you are wondering why the plugs look so bad, I have a piston ring issue with this engine.  I need to take it Volvo, I think it is a known issue.  It is burning about one quart per month.  A little of that is the turbo, but not that much.

Products used:

  • 5 Bosch double Iridium plugs
