Our two-year-old Samsung dryer started squeaking like crazy. Model No. DV45H7000EW/A2 The drum rides on 4 rollers, so I figured these rollers are going out and I ordered 4 new ones. I wish I had done some exploratory surgery before I ordered all 4. I discovered only one was bad, at least I have 3 ‘in stock’ now. These little rollers do not have bearings, but bushings. I was able to press one the bushings out with my 12-ton press. I think if these go out again I will replace the bushing with bearings, I bet that would last forever. I am not sure why Samsung did not install bearing from the factory, I guess they want this stuff to break. It looks like random hair and lint worked its way into the bushing and created enough friction to destroy the bushing. I did add Mobil 1 Grease to all the bushings and moving parts while I had the dryer apart; don’t get it on the belt. I also flipped the dryer door to make it easier to remove clothes. It opened from the left, it now opens from the right; so we don’t have to walk around the door to exit the room.
Removal:
- Remove the control panel.
- Unplug the control panel, remove the top of the dryer.
- Remove the entire front including the door.
- Remove the belt, just pop it off the idler pulley.
- Remove the drum, it is very light.
- Remove the bad roller, roll the roller with your hand, if it does not move freely it is bad.
- Reinstall everything, lube everything.
Products used:
- Mobil 1 Grease
- One new drum roller
Do you know what size bearing that would fit in those rollers. I have the same dryer and would like to put the bearings in it. If you could please email me the size and where I could find them please let me know thanks.
I finally got around to trying to replace the bushings with bearings. I don’t think they make bearings this size. OD=22mm ID=13MM Width=22mm I just cannot find them.
